September Activities

  • Nature Walks to teach our children about the leaves changing colors, the hibernation process of some animals, the migration of some birds, and instill a love for the beauty of nature that surrounds us.
  • Apple Picking where the children get to choose and pick their own apples. Then when they return to school they make their own little apple pies.
  • Parent Teacher Conference
  • Pony rides from “Precious Ponies”

October Activities

  • Photos, class and individual photos of your child. Pictures are great for gift giving as well as special memories.
  • Lemont Fire Department will bring their fire trucks to school and the firefighters will demonstrate fire safety.
  • Pumpkin Patch, children visit Siegel’s Pumpkin Farm. They visit the animals, go on a hayride, and pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.
  • Officer Friendly visits and discusses Halloween safety and precautions with our children. The officer demonstrates how his squad car operates. This is a very exciting experience for young children.
  • Hearing & Speech Screening, Mrs. Mattila, our Hearing and Speech Pathologist, conducts hearing and speech screening.
  • Halloween Party, children wear costumes and bring store-bought treats to share at our annual party. Students not schedule to attend school on the day of the party are welcome to join in the fun.

November Activities

  • Thanksgiving Celebration where our children make stuffing for several turkeys and also make pumpkin pies, which truly delights the children.
  • Children learn how the Pilgrims and Indians brought about Thanksgiving Day. We host an annual Indian Pow-Wow Day.
  • Our children make popcorn and bring home their beautifully crafted Indian costumes. They also learn the true meaning behind our nation’s most heart-warming holiday.
